Green Derby. Located at 9th and York in Newport, it's been around since 1947. Recently re-opened under new ownership. One of those cases where there were too many family members running the show and messing stuff up. Old people love the place. Next to the kitchen staff, I think I was the only person under 50 when I had lunch there. The building's nice. Lots of room, even has a bar. Service aint bad. Food's pretty good. They're well-known for their fish dishes. I had breaded pork loin, mashed potatoes, fried eggplant, and a hot salad that was surprisingly yummy. Similar to German hot slaw, it consisted of shredded lettuce, warmed up, with a simple vinegrette dressing and bacon bits on top. All in all, I had a fairly good lunch experience. If I ever wanna eat with an elderly friend, they'll be the first place I go.
